Water Break App Reviews
Great app and very nice design! It would be great if we can set the duration of the screen becoming darker to less than 25s because right now it is a bit too long and it really stops the task I am currently doing ... even better: clicking on the screen to stop the darken thing
I need to drink 3 liters of water per day. The app allows only for 8 glasses per day which would force me to drink 375ml per glass! Thats a lot of water. There is no calculator to see how much water a person actually needs, no way to change the number of glasses - 2,59 for this rubbish, I am really annoyed.
Perfect
Exactly what I was looking for.
Does exactly what it says. Though one issue I noticed, is sometimes the timer triggers in a different time than the usually, but it is not effecting me much, as long as Im getting enough water everyday. Suggested improvements is a click counter to count the number of glasses, setting the size of the glasses, and showing the number of Ozs.
I work on my computer, all day everyday. And so I have to just remember to drink water before work and during and 20 minutes before a meal, etc. But with this app, all I have to do is set it for 120 minutes and set the interval for 3 minutes and Im set. After 120 minutes it goes off, the screen dims down and a glass of water appears with 3 minutes counting down, giving me just enough time to drink a tall glass of water and come back to continue what I was doing and staying hydrated, sharp, and healthy the whole time.
Ive reinstalled this app a couple of times now to see if it resolves my issues. It works well for reminding me when to stop and take a drink, but the specific water break times dont seem to work correctly. When the times are set up, the wrong glass number is displayed. Not a deal breaker, but a little annoying.
Those who have called this spectacular must have a low threshold. I really don’t get how this works. The thing never starts at the right time, the snooze options don’t work, it doesn’t necessarily keep track of what you consume, just bugs you to drink and if the reminders and logs are not working right, it is only frustrating instead of helpful. I think there must be some bugs the developer must be working on. Not sure it was actually worth the 99 cents! Sorry! UPDATE - the app information says it is compatible with OS X 10.6 or later, but that is NOT TRUE! I sent a message to the developer and they told me it would not be compatible, that they have no planned update to this to make it compatible, and they offered me no refund. SWINDLED - DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!
No refinements* with this version, but at least we know the developer is supporting it. The design is good for setting both a countdown alarm to get up and stretch for a duration and for up to eight water break time alarms. All user customizable. The sounds are beautiful, the lighting effect for alerts is nice, and the animation gets in the way enough to really get your attention without being annoying; and a simple click to ignore it if you want. * I don’t think this app needs more features—the developer specializes in making simple solutions for common little problems— but there is some room for improvement of the app design: 1) the main timer can only be set with a slider control that doesn’t snap to common durations, with no value entry box, 2) the 8 water break alarms are absolute, meaning if you ignore one the interval to the next one will be shorter, 3) there’s no easy pause/resume (which should be to click on the big useless water glass image, 4) maybe animate the water level in that glass, just for fun, and animate the menu bar icon to show remaining time (water in the glass)? It’s better than OK; it’s a good app. But it’s not yet great:)
